If you want the best and most successful oral health possible, then it’s best to take great care of your smile before you go to bed. To help you do so, our Twin Falls Family Dentistry team strongly recommends completing this oral hygiene checklist:

-Brush your teeth: Make sure you brush your teeth for two minutes with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. These brushing tools will clean your smile without harming your gums and will also nourish and strengthen your teeth.

-Floss your smile: Floss between your teeth with a flossing product of your choice, but be gentle along the gumline as you do so. Flossing will help remove the harmful particles from between your teeth, reducing your chances of having tooth decay and gum disease.

-Rinse your mouth: Rinse your mouth for the recommended amount of time that is suggested on the bottle. Rinsing will help you complete the smile-cleaning job, will give you a pristine breath, and will kill the bacteria that threaten your oral health.

-Be aware of teeth grinding: Teeth grinding is a harmful habit that typically occurs at night. If you tend to grind your teeth, it’s best to protect your chompers with a mouthguard. You can talk to your dentist about your mouthguard options at your next dental appointment.

If you do these four things, your smile will remain in tip-top shape.
